{"id":27334,"date":"2026-08-04T10:20:30","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T09:20:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roads-and-transport\/?page_id=27334"},"modified":"2026-09-07T08:43:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T07:43:45","slug":"a377-weirmarsh-works","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roads-and-transport\/traffic-information\/roadworks\/a377-weirmarsh-works\/","title":{"rendered":"A377 Weirmarsh works"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-default\">Where and when the work is happening<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Essential works are planned on the A377 at Weirmarsh to repair and stabilise the carriageway following a landslip that caused part of the road to collapse in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Works are currently planned to start in mid-September 2026 for approximately six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traffic management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When developing the scheme, all feasible options were explored to minimise the need for road closures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the stabilisation works will require a full road closure of up to three months at the start of construction. Once this phase of the works is complete, the traffic management will change to two-way traffic lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information regarding the diversion route can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/one.network\/?GB150184845\" rel=\"noopener\">one.network<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we are doing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2021, the embankment supporting the A377 at Weirmarsh suffered a landslip, causing the edge of the carriageway to collapse. Since then, the south-bound lane has been closed under two-way traffic lights for public safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After extensive planning, we are now moving to the next stage of the project: stabilising the carriageway and embankment to enable the reinstatement of a full-width carriageway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have worked to minimise disruption wherever possible and will make full use of the closure period to deliver additional improvements, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>950m of resurfacing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>drainage improvements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>vegetation clearance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inspections of nearby structures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We understand that this is a significant time for this route to be closed and apologise for any inconvenience caused.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Where and when the work is happening Essential works are planned on the A377 at Weirmarsh to repair and stabilise the carriageway following a landslip that caused part of the road to collapse in 2021.
