{"id":15468,"date":"2023-08-01T14:57:47","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T13:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roadsandtransport\/?page_id=15468"},"modified":"2026-06-11T12:15:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T11:15:33","slug":"permits-for-students-at-exeter-university","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/roads-and-transport\/parking\/parking-permits\/residents-parking\/permits-for-students-at-exeter-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Permits for students at Exeter University"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Think Before You Bring a Car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In line with <strong>University of Exeter travel guidance<\/strong>, please consider <strong>greener travel options<\/strong> before bringing a car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should only bring a vehicle if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It\u2019s <strong>essential for your course<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need it for a <strong>regular work placement<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have a <strong>medical need<\/strong> for daily use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not bring a car if it will <strong>rarely be used<\/strong> or you <strong>cannot park it at your address<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be considerate of residents who rely on parking daily<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always <strong>park safely and responsibly<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not bring a car if it will <strong>rarely be used<\/strong> or you <strong>cannot park it at your address<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be considerate of residents who rely on accessible parking places on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Always <strong>park safely and responsibly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where Permits Are Not Available<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Student halls<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>New or redeveloped properties<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These locations are <strong>not included<\/strong> in nearby on-street resident parking schemes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shared Housing (Private Rentals \/ HMOs)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If permits are available, you and your housemates must decide <strong>who uses them<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Permit allocations cannot be increased<\/strong> based on a persons need to have a permit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying for a Student Permit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply through the <strong>MiPermit Devon portal<\/strong> online (see below)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set your start date from when you move in (usually September)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your permit will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>End automatically on <strong>31 July<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include an <strong>automatic refund<\/strong> for unused full months after August<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\uddd3\ufe0f Student permits are available to buy <strong>between August and May<\/strong>. If you are remaining at a property address for more than the academic year then buy a resident permit for the address which will be valid for 12 months from the date you choose to start it from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Warning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must <strong>live at the address<\/strong> you apply for and be able to provide proof of that when applying<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is an offence to get a permit for an address where you do not live<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Permits are not transferable <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2757 Any permit issued incorrectly will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cancelled<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Not refunded<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cancelling Your Permit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you leave university:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can <strong>cancel at any time<\/strong> via your <strong>MiPermit account<\/strong> online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll receive a <strong>refund for unused full calendar months<\/strong> remaining or unused visitor hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If your zone receives a paper permit, or you choose to buy or use visitor scratchcards, these are non-refundable.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-dcc-primary-button\"><a onclick=\"dataLayer.push({&amp;apos;buttonEvent&amp;apos;: &amp;apos;Information page&amp;apos;});\" class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/secure.mipermit.com\/devon\/Application\/ProductForeword.aspx?PermitType=UNIVERSITY\" rel=\"noopener\">Click Here to apply for a student parking permit<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Think Before You Bring a Car In line with University of Exeter travel guidance, please consider greener travel options before bringing a car.
