Devon Highways will be undertaking Essential maintenance work overnight on the Penn Inn Roundabout at Newton Abbot surrounding approach roads.
The works include using a treatment to improve the carriageway, undertake drainage and gully inspections, removing any overgrown vegetation and a relining of the roundabout and surrounding approaches.
To do this work lane closures will be needed overnight from 7pm on Monday 7th July and will fully reopen by 6am Saturday 12th July.
During the daytime, there will be no restrictions in place.
We will be using Elastomac as a treatment during the works. Elastomac is a strong, flexible and quick drying mastic material. We use it to fix potholes and other damage on the road surface. The speed of application means less disruption for road users and the product incorporates up to 80% recycled materials.
Repairs can look a little different from the regular road, sometimes sitting slightly higher than the surrounding surface. This is because Elastomac is designed to create a tight and waterproof seal, effectively preventing water from seeping in and causing further damage. Overtime and with traffic the repairs will settle slightly.
We have been successfully trialling the use of Elastomac in Devon for the past two years, and the results have been very positive. Its durability and water resistance are proving to be highly effective in providing long-lasting repairs.
Finally some lines will be refreshed to assist road users and enhance direction of travel.
