A376 Winslade to Clyst St George resurfacing and drainage

What are we doing?

We are carrying out carriageway resurfacing work during the night from Monday 10 March to Friday 21 March from 7pm to 6am on the A376 Exmouth Road and Monday 10 March to Friday 14 March from 7pm to 6am on Clyst St George Roundabout. This is because it has reached the end of its serviceable life.

The work will be carried out under night-time closures, but please note there will be no weekend working and the road will remain fully open during this time.

In conjunction, there will be a daytime lane closure along the A376 Exmouth Road, South Bound, to carry out drainage improvement and repair works between Monday 10 March to Friday 21 March.

Why do we have to close the road?

Traffic Management is needed due to the width of the road and for the safety of the workforce. We will try to re-open the road earlier than 6am where it is possible and safe to do so.

Why is there such a long diversion route?

The local authority is obliged to sign diversions that use roads of the same classification to the road that is temporarily closed. Drivers may choose to use local knowledge to identify alternative, and possibly shorter, routes.

How is local traffic being handled?

Where the only access to the residence property is through the road closure vehicles will be allowed access although they may be asked to wait a short time until it is safe to pass.

Access will always be maintained for emergency vehicles.
