His Majesty’s Coroner for the for Devon, Plymouth and Torbay area, which covers the whole of Devon, is Phillip Spinney.
The Coroner investigates all unexpected, accidental or suspicious deaths (or both). He is assisted in this by officers from Devon & Cornwall Police as well as local pathologists.
Part of his work includes conducting inquests into these deaths which are attended by interested parties and sometimes expert witnesses.
Inquests will be held at the Devon Coroners Court, County Hall, Exeter, or at Plymouth Combined Court.
