{"id":15,"date":"2013-10-14T14:05:22","date_gmt":"2013-10-14T13:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.devon.gov.uk\/registrationservice\/other-registration-services\/gender-recognition\/"},"modified":"2013-10-14T14:05:22","modified_gmt":"2013-10-14T13:05:54","slug":"gender-recognition","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/registration-service\/certificates\/gender-recognition\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By law you remain your birth gender unless you apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate to change it legally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/apply-gender-recognition-certificate\" rel=\"noopener\">apply to the Gender Recognition Panel<\/a>&nbsp;for legal recognition of your change of gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for Gender Recognition you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be at least 18 years old<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have lived in your acquired gender for at least 2 years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>plan to live permanently in your new gender.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If successful the Recognition Panel will notify the Registrar General, a recognition certificate will be issued and an entry made on the gender recognition register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An entry in the register can only be made for transgender people whose births are registered in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As soon as your change of gender is legally recognised you will be able to marry in your acquired gender.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By law you remain your birth gender unless you apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate to change it legally.
