What the Public Health Team does<\/h1><\/header>

Public health promotes and protects the health of everyone living in Devon. We work to create the conditions for people to live longer, healthier and happier lives. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

Our Public Health Team works to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of everyone living in Devon. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many things affect our health, not just how we use healthcare \u2013 but the conditions into which we are born, the places we live in, our income, our homes and our jobs. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We use data, research and local insight to understand the needs of our communities. This helps us plan and deliver a range of public health services which keep people well and prevent ill health. We work in partnership with many organisations to tackle health issues together and create healthier communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People across Devon experience different levels of health \u2013 with some people living with poorer health than others. We want to reduce these unfair differences and create the opportunities for everyone to improve their health and wellbeing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also have a responsibility to protect our residents\u2019 health from threats that could be a risk to public health, for example climate change or infectious diseases. We work with our Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response team and the UK Health Security Agency to plan and prepare for such events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
