preparedness<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UKHSA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UKHSA manage all ARI outbreak, care settings are to report confirmed or suspected ARI outbreaks via the OBRA Tool:&nbsp;&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.ukhsa.gov.uk\/ReportAnOutbreak\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/forms.ukhsa.gov.uk\/ReportAnOutbreak<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system will perform an initial triage to assess whether the report concerns:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a single case or an outbreak<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a residential\/nursing care home or another type of ASC setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a low-risk, medium risk, or high priority outbreak according to the combination of red and amber flags<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The provider reporting via the OBRA tool will receive two automated emails:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An \u201cacknowledgment email\u201d with a Care OBRA reference number and a copy of your data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An \u201cadvice email\u201d providing immediate information\/advice on how to manage the situation reported.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>NB: providers may receive an additional \u201cadvice email\u201d if, for example, they are reporting a COVID-19 outbreak AND a single case of Flu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UKHSA will assess the data (within 1-2 working days) and take further action if specialist advice is required. For example, call the provider, send a follow-up email with specific advice, inform relevant partners, such as, LA PH team, IPC, &amp; ICB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OBRA Tool allows adult social care settings to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Report suspected \/ confirmed ARI\u2019s without the need to ring or email the HPT beforehand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect all the relevant information and enter it into an electronic platform at a time that suits them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive a summary of the data entered in the Care OBRA Tool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive immediate email advice on how to manage their situation and automatically identify the higher risk situations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Completed OBRA\u2019s allow HPT to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify and prioritise incidents requiring specialist HPT input.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on interventions that will achieve the greatest public health impact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide local system partners with timely and accurate information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Health and Safety Executive<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider if a RIDDOR report is required&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/riddor\/index.htm\" rel=\"noopener\">RIDDOR \u2013 Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 \u2013 HSE<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outbreak testing guidance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To find out about testing during an outbreak please visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/providerengagementnetwork\/document\/testing\/\">COVID-19 testing<\/a>&nbsp;page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outbreak control measures.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An outbreak is defined as 2 or more positive or clinically suspected linked cases of ARI\u2019s within the same setting within a 5-day period, where transmission within the care setting was likely to have occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The care setting should check if the individual\/s are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/covid-19\/treatments-for-covid-19\/\" rel=\"noopener\">eligible for Covid-19 treatment<\/a>, those that are eligible should be LFD tested, for those who are not eligible for Covid-19 treatment &nbsp;testing is not required unless specifically advised by the HPT or other local partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outbreak management guidance should be followed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/infection-prevention-and-control-in-adult-social-care-settings\/infection-prevention-and-control-resource-for-adult-social-care#managing-infection\" rel=\"noopener\">Infection prevention and control: resource for adult social care \u2013 GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Admissions during outbreak<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Admissions are allowed:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admissions from hospitals will no longer have routine Covid-19 testing prior to discharge.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/covid-19-testing-from-1-april-2024?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=govuk-notifications-topic&amp;utm_source=977d0bb6-6e91-4a4e-92b1-975e75739c90&amp;utm_content=immediately\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19: testing from 1 April 2024 \u2013 GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Care settings should complete risk assessments for any admission that is known to have an ARI&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/infection-prevention-and-control-in-adult-social-care-settings\/infection-prevention-and-control-resource-for-adult-social-care#general-information\" rel=\"noopener\">Infection prevention and control: resource for adult social care \u2013 GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:swhpt@ukhsa.gov.uk\">swhpt@ukhsa.gov.uk<\/a>&nbsp;can advise on admissions during outbreak.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Managing and reporting Covid-19 has now been aligned with other Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI).
