Maths, English and Digital Skills

These functional skills opens opportunities for further education and qualifications as some courses will require Maths and English GCSE (level 4 or grade C) or Functional skills (level two).

Learn Devon

Offers support with Maths, English and digital skills. These courses are for anyone wanting to improve their skills. This can range from entry level all the way up to Level 2 qualifications. You can enrol at any time throughout the year and the tutors will tailor your learning exactly around your needs. These are very flexible course; you will work at your own pace and you will be set your own goals. There will be lots of progression opportunities available to you along the way.

Skills Launch, health and social care digital champions

The aim of this free training programme is to create a health and social care workforce fit for the digital future. The digital champions programme is an opportunity for health and social care staff (new and existing) to invest in their own digital skills.

BKSB

Free to all social care staff – help for those wishing to take Functional Skills in Maths &/or English. Support for functional skills as requirements for learners undertaking an apprenticeship. RESTORE2

RESTORE 2 stands for: Recognise Early Soft-signs, Take Observations, Respond, Escalate. The tool has been designed by West Hampshire CCG and Wessex AHSN to help care and nursing professionals to:

  • Recognise when a resident may be deteriorating or at risk of physical deterioration
  • Act appropriately according to the resident’s care plan to protect and manage the resident
  • Obtain a complete set of physical observations to inform escalation and conversations with health professionals
  • Speak with the most appropriate health professional in a timely way to get the right support
  • Provide a concise escalation history to health professionals to support their professional decision making

Torbay and South Devon

  • RESTORE2 and RESTORE2Mini training in this region of Devon is being delivered by Torbay and South Devon Trust. To find out more information please contact training.southdevon@nhs.net

East Devon

  • The Eastern Care Services Team are pleased to announce that from September 2021 they will be offering free RESTORE2 training to Care Providers in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. The training will be offered either virtually, via MS Teams, or face to face whilst adhering to strict COVID19 infection control precautions. Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships offer the perfect gateway to working in care and health, or to help advance your career. They combine study, training, and practical experience. You can access funding through the colleges or through the apprenticeship levy fund. For more information look at our funding page.

Qualifications

We work in co-production with local higher education colleges. They offer a range of different courses from online, distance learning and face to face learning. Their courses range from preparing to work in social care, mental health first aid to dementia awareness and many more.

Nursing qualifications

If you are interested in Nursing and support roles in Social Care there are several options available. For registered roles there are apprenticeship routes for Registered Nurse and Nursing Associate programmes. Additionally, there is also an apprentice route to Assistant Practitioner. These programmes comprise academic and practice components building knowledge, skills and experience in health and social care.
