Fun day for North Devon school children at Oceanfest 2019

Posted on: 17 June 2019

A day of fun and games at the beach awaits North Devon school children this week, as Goldcoast Oceanfest returns to Croyde.

Each year, local children in year six from schools across the district are invited to a day of exciting beach activities, funded by North Devon Council and coordinated by PETROC in partnership with GoldCoast Oceanfest.

Children will take part in the coveted Beach Flags competition, activities promoting physical activity, group and team building challenges as well as environmental awareness and good practice. Schools will also have time to tour the various tents and activities in the main arena. Approximately 1,100 children are set to take part in the event this year, which takes place this Friday (21 June).

Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor David Worden says: “The annual year six trip to Oceanfest is a highlight of the summer term and a rite of passage for the children as they enjoy their final weeks of primary school. This event is all about getting young people to enjoy our wonderful natural environment and enjoy the fresh air during a fun and educational day outdoors. I am really pleased we’re able to fund the education day again this year, with the support of PETROC and the Goldcoast Oceanfest team.”
