Time is running out to apply for a funding boost for North Devon organisations

Time is running out for North Devon based organisations to apply for a funding boost to ‘kick-start’ local projects that will make a difference at community level.
North Devon Council is encouraging registered charities, voluntary and community groups and social enterprises to come forward and apply for funding from the Strategic Town and Parish Fund (TAP Fund) for North Devon before the deadline on 30 November 2017.
North Devon Council works with Devon County Council to allocate funding for capital and revenue projects that will benefit residents of at least two geographical areas, and meet identified community needs. Together they make available £1.10 per electorate, of which £1 is given by Devon County Council and 10p from North Devon Council.
Executive Member for Leisure and Culture at North Devon Council, Councillor Dick Jones, says: “Funding opportunities like the TAP fund really shouldn’t be missed. It’s great that through schemes such as this we can provide support to local projects and groups across the district to help with the valuable work that they do. Information about the fund, and other grants that are available, is on our website so why not check it out and see what’s out there for you.”
Leader of Devon County Council, Councillor John Hart says: “Through this fund, we’re encouraging local communities to identify projects that will make a real and positive difference to their town or village. We’re particularly keen to see applications that support new projects that will benefit whole communities.”
Previous grants have been awarded to The Voice, Clarity, the Samaritans, the Devon Ambulance Response Team and Westward Pathfinder.
Applications can be made online, or forms can be downloaded from North Devon Council’s website www.northdevon.gov.uk/grants. Following the deadline for applications, successful applicants will be notified in early 2018 and will need to complete their projects and claim the funds by the end of March 2018.
