{"id":72008,"date":"2026-11-05T16:58:41","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T16:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=72008"},"modified":"2026-11-05T16:58:52","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T16:58:52","slug":"have-your-say-plans-reopen-dryden-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/have-your-say-plans-reopen-dryden-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Have your say on plans to reopen Dryden Road"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A four-week public consultation on proposals to allow traffic to travel in both directions along Dryden Road in Exeter has launched today (Thursday 5 November).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dryden Road has been closed to through traffic since June 2020, when restrictions were introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic to reduce traffic levels and make it safer for people walking and cycling. The changes were made permanent in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are now proposing to remove the restriction on through traffic and reopen the road to two-way vehicle movements, to help mitigate traffic and road safety concerns on Bovemoors Lane. Alongside this, we are proposing a package of measures designed to keep speeds low and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These measures include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Extending the existing 20mph zone;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installing two new road humps;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refurbishing two existing road humps;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building a raised table at the Kipling Drive junction;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installing a raised zebra crossing between Well Oak Park and Barrack Road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_acf-block-6aecb5c190909\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Michael Mitchell, Chair of the Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>&#8220;I look forward to local residents and others participating in the recently launched public consultation about the re-opening of Dryden Road.
