You can find more information on our dedicated webpage.

The roundabout has been completed on time and within budget as part of Devon County Council’s wider improvement programme for the route.

From Monday, drivers will be able to use the new roundabout to join the A382 towards Forches Cross or continue along Exeter Road towards Teigngrace and Kingsteignton.

The exit from the roundabout onto the new Jetty Marsh link road towards Newton Abbot will remain closed while the embankment settles before the road is constructed. This will not affect traffic using the roundabout. The link road is due to open in autumn 2027.

The scheme forms part of the wider A382 improvement programme, which is designed to improve safety, reduce congestion and provide better walking and cycling links.

Ahead of the opening, Devon County Council Chair Rosie Dawson, local county councillors Jacqueline Fry and Sally Morgan, and Newton Abbot MP Martin Wrigley visited the site to see progress on the scheme.

During the visit, they saw how Exeter Road has been realigned and now sits between 10 and 20 metres further away from nearby homes.

The roundabout has also been designed with a shallow basin at its centre which can temporarily store rainwater during heavy downpours, helping to reduce the risk of flooding on nearby roads.

The central area has been seeded and is expected to be fully grassed over by late autumn.

Before construction began, Engineers used digital modelling to test different traffic management options and identify the approach that would keep disruption to a minimum while maintaining traffic flow during construction.

Work on the wider improvement programme will continue as Devon County Council progresses improvements to the A382 between Newton Abbot and the A38, including construction of the Jetty Marsh link road.

The overall scheme is expected to improve journey times, increase resilience on the route and support future growth in the area.

[986,1

post-70884","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-roads-and-transport","category-uncategorised
Cllr Fry (centre), Cllr Morgan (4th Right) and Chair of DCC Rosie Dawson (3rd Right) with members of M Group and DCC's Engineering Design Group.
