{"id":70629,"date":"2026-07-21T11:19:39","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T10:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=70629"},"modified":"2026-07-21T11:19:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T10:19:43","slug":"overnight-a379-closure-devon-hotel-roundabout-road-marking-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/overnight-a379-closure-devon-hotel-roundabout-road-marking-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Overnight A379 closure at Devon Hotel roundabout for road marking work"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A section of the A379 at the Devon Hotel roundabout will be closed for two nights next month so road markings can be refreshed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The closures will be overnight on Monday 3 August 2026 and Tuesday 4 August, from 7pm to 6am the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work can only be completed in dry weather and if it is wet the closure may need to be extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work is part of the South West Exeter scheme and will be carried out by Taylor Woodrow on behalf of Devon County Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The markings need to be clear so drivers can easily see the lanes and follow the roundabout safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For safety, the A379 will be closed between Trood Lane (to the west) and Stapleton Way (to the east). Bad Homburg Way will be closed between the Matford Park &amp; Ride roundabout (to the north) and Devon Hotel roundabout (to the south). The Dawlish Road and Matford Lane entry\u2019s and exits from the roundabout will also be closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People living or working nearby will still be able to get to and from their properties, although some routes will change during the closure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ellacott Road will remain open for access and exit. Traffic leaving Trood Lane will be able to turn left onto the A379.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Devon Hotel and Matford Mews can be reached via Old Matford Lane, but drivers will not be able to get from Old Matford Lane to the roundabout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People living on Dawlish Road will need to use Chantry Meadow to get in and out, as there will be no access to the roundabout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A signed diversion will take drivers via Chudleigh Road and Topsham Road in both directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Signs indicating diversion routes will be in place during the course of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information contact: Taylor Woodrow
