{"id":69674,"date":"2026-05-08T14:49:03","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T13:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=69674"},"modified":"2026-05-11T15:22:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T14:22:43","slug":"were-returning-devon-county-show-another-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/were-returning-devon-county-show-another-year\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;re returning to the Devon County Show\u00a0for another year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Devon County Show is one of the county\u2019s flagship events, welcoming thousands of visitors each year, and&nbsp;an opportunity&nbsp;for us to&nbsp;showcase&nbsp;the breadth of services we deliver&nbsp;across Devon&nbsp;and the partnerships we are proud to be part of.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking place from&nbsp;Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 May,<strong> <\/strong>our stand will once again bring together&nbsp;services&nbsp;and partner organisations, offering activities,&nbsp;advice&nbsp;and information for people of all ages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, we will be joined by&#8230;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fostering Devon and Adopt&nbsp;South West&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;sharing information about&nbsp;how&nbsp;to become foster carers or adopters, and the vital role carers play in children\u2019s lives&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Devon Bus Enhanced Partnership (Transport Coordination Service)&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;Will&nbsp;be promoting the arrival of Zero Emission Buses in Devon this year and encouraging people to use&nbsp;bus services and public transport across Devon&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recycle Devon and Waste Management&nbsp;\u2013 promoting recycling, waste&nbsp;reduction&nbsp;and reuse&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schools Library Service\u00a0\u2013\u00a0\u00a0encouraging &#8216;Reading for pleasure&#8217; with a free book for each young person visiting their stand on the day.\u202fVisitors can share a story with\u00a0Elmer\u00a0activity, bookmark competition with prizes to be won, plus booklists to take away.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Devon Resilience Innovation Project&nbsp;and the Devon Climate Emergency team&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;bringing together climate resilience and flood resilience,&nbsp;they\u2019ll&nbsp;be exploring what a flood resilient Devon looks like. Discover simple, practical steps you can take at home to&nbsp;slow&nbsp;the flow of rainwater, reduce flood risk, cut carbon emissions, and support nature and biodiversity. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>South Western&nbsp;Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service&nbsp;\u2013 providing information on&nbsp;fire prevention, road safety, how to perform CPR and&nbsp;defibrillator&nbsp;training&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Public Health, Trading Standards and Communities&nbsp;\u2013 offering advice on&nbsp;5 ways to&nbsp;health and wellbeing, consumer protection&nbsp;advice&nbsp;and community support&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Employment and Skills&nbsp;\u2013 promoting training opportunities, skills&nbsp;development&nbsp;and employment support across Devon&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re&nbsp;also pleased to have&nbsp;Camper Coffee&nbsp;joining us this year, providing refreshments throughout the show.&nbsp;We\u2019ll&nbsp;also once more have&nbsp;South West&nbsp;Water&nbsp;with their free water refill point, so&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;forget your reusable bottles!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our stand will give showgoers the opportunity to learn more about our services, ask questions, take part in interactive&nbsp;activities&nbsp;and find out how Devon County Council and our partners work together to support residents,&nbsp;businesses&nbsp;and communities across the county.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the show, you can enjoy live music performed by children and young people from across Devon on the bandstand (Avenue K), presented by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musiceducationhub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Devon Music Education Hub<\/a>. The Hub is led by\u202fDevon Education Services, part of\u202fDevon County Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can experience a rich variety of live music on all three days of the show by visiting the bandstand on Avenue K, with music performed by children and young people from local schools and Devon Music Education Hub-supported activities across, Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also at the show,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmwisedevon.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Farmwise<\/a>\u202fwill be back in their usual&nbsp;spot&nbsp;with lots for children to see and do&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;from cooking workshops, butter making and planting seeds,&nbsp;to new interactive&nbsp;activities about&nbsp;bees and forestry, alongside farm animals and impressive machinery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Devon Food Partnership will also&nbsp;be located in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Farmwise&nbsp;area. Visitors can expect \u2018The Bread Test\u2019,&nbsp;\u2018What\u2019s in the Bag?\u2019 and colouring \u2018The Devon Rainbow\u2019! Partnership members will be on hand to guide through the activities and chat about all&nbsp;things&nbsp;local food.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information about the
