{"id":69094,"date":"2026-03-13T09:19:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T09:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=69094"},"modified":"2026-03-13T14:50:46","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T14:50:46","slug":"co-wheels-launch-new-community-car-club-exeter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/co-wheels-launch-new-community-car-club-exeter\/","title":{"rendered":"Co Wheels to launch new community car club in Exeter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A new community car club is being launched in Devon, providing people with access to a car without the cost and responsibility of owning one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are working with a national community car club provider, Co Wheels, to introduce the scheme, initially in Exeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five low-emission, hybrid&nbsp;vehicles will be available to book by the hour or day for use from Wednesday 18 March.&nbsp; They will be located at key locations across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members will use Co Wheels app for bookings, and prices will start from \u00a37.50 per hour or \u00a350 per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first five vehicles will be located at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Southernhay East, Exeter, EX1 1QL<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Powderham Crescent, Exeter, EX4 6BZ<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>College Road, Exeter, EX1 1TG<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Polsloe Road, Exeter, EX1 2DN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bartholomew Street West, Exeter, EX4 3AJ<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Car clubs like Co Wheels help reduce congestion, free up valuable parking space and lower emissions by enabling more people to share fewer vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research shows that each car club vehicle can replace up to 20 privately owned cars, encouraging residents to walk, cycle and use public transport for everyday journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme supports our ambitions to reduce traffic and improve air quality while providing a flexible transport solution for local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_acf-block-69b42440ad35e\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Jacqi Hodgson, Devon County Council\u2019s Cabinet Member with responsibility for climate change, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>\u201cI\u2019m really pleased to welcome the launch of Co Wheels in Exeter. travel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co Wheels plans to expand the Exeter network in the future, with additional vehicles expected to be introduced as membership grows and demand increases.<br><br>To
