It will depend on the condition of the road, whether it&#8217;s safe to use or whether repairs will be necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Devon&#8217;s roads<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Updated 1:39pm Friday 30 January<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No change to the information below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Updated 2:26pm Thursday 29 January<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tipton St John is now open<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>St Road, Hele, is now open<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Updated 11:50am Thursday 29 January 2026<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exeter &amp; East <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Northmostown &#8211; closed for foreseeable \u2013 landslip directly adjacent to the road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sidmouth Road between Ottery and The Bowd &#8211; closed for the foreseeable, uprooted tree has undermined road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Road Past Darts Farm \u2013 now clear<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tipton St John \u2013 awaiting update<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cadhay Lane, Ottery St.Mary &#8211; Collapsed culvert \u2013 closed for foreseeable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>South<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Totnes Road, Buckfastleigh &#8211; Flooding, impassable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A382 between Pepperdown Lane and Moretonhampstead \u2013 CLOSED flooded and impassable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A379 Slapton Line &#8211; a short section of the A379 will be closed for a considerable time.  SHDC have given approval for the road to be re-routed through their car park. The expectation is that it may be open some time next week with other sections remaining under temporary traffic lights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A377 junction with Queen Elizabeth Drive, Crediton &#8211; Flooding. Road impassable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>B3181 Cullompton to Willand closed at 5 bridges &#8211; Still flooded but passable with care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hemyock Road, Culmstock &#8211; Flooding, impassable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A396 Stoke Road, Stoke Canon &#8211; Flooding, impassable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, we were receiving reports of congestion on minor roads, as drivers seek to avoid roads closed or partially closed due to localised flooding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are advising road users in areas where there is known flooding to only travel if it\u2019s essential.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People in flooded areas of the county are asked to wait until road conditions improve and for routes to reopen before travelling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We expect improving weather conditions today will allow some roads to drain and reopen. However, flooded roads that otherwise drain into swollen rivers will take longer to clear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel Advice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We are reminding residents of the following advice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be alert to fallen trees and branches, particularly on minor roads where they may not have been reported<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never drive through floodwater or swollen flowing water, you don\u2019t know how deep it is. Find an alternative route<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow additional time for your journey. Reduce your speed and leave more space between you and the vehicle in front<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drive with care and according to the conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listen to local radio for updates on
