The Totnes Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will be closed from the end of January to the middle of March as it undergoes maintenance and engineering works.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site, which is over 20 years old,  on Babbage Road Industrial Estate, will be closed from Saturday 31 January 2026 until Sunday 15 March 2026 (inclusive). The site will re-open to the public on Monday 16 March 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work involves extensive resurfacing and drainage works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work is being carried out outside of the busy summer period to try  to minimise disruption to the public as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n

Councillor Jacqi Hodgson Devon County Council\u2019s Cabinet member for Climate Change and Biodiversity and the local member for Totnes & Dartington said: <\/p><\/div>\r\n \t\t

\u201cWe\u2019re closing the site to carry out some much-needed repairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe site is the smallest in Devon, and it is heavily used by the public. In addition, the site waste compaction machinery and the lorries servicing the site and removing the waste and recycling take a\u00a0 toll over the years. \u00a0It\u2019s that constant use every day that has resulted in significant wear and tear.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, due to the scale of the works and the size of the site there is no way we can safely carry out the works while the site remains open.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and during this time we ask the public to use an alternative Recycling Centre such as the facilities at Newton Abbott, Kingsbridge or Ivybridge.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t<\/blockquote>\r\n
