{"id":65896,"date":"2025-05-02T11:09:20","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T10:09:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=65896"},"modified":"2025-05-08T16:53:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T15:53:11","slug":"join-us-at-the-devon-county-show-from-may-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/join-us-at-the-devon-county-show-from-may-15\/","title":{"rendered":"Join us at the Devon County Show from Thursday 15 May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>We will, once again, be sharing a stand with our partners at the Devon County Show this year which runs from Thursday 15 May to Saturday 17 May.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find our main stand at our usual place on Road 8, Stand 225. Visitors will have the opportunity to find out about some of the services we provide and the work we carry out such as road safety, fostering, adoption and flood resilience, and the stand will be packed with activities and information for all ages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in how we are improving bus services in Devon you can chat to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.traveldevon.info\/bus\/bsip\/devonbus-enhanced-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Devon Bus team<\/a>.\u202f Find out more about the new electric buses which will be arriving in Exeter this summer and North Devon later this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stagecoach will also be bringing along an electric bus which will be on the stand over the three days.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors will have the chance to speak to representatives from <a href=\"https:\/\/visionzerosouthwest.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vision Zero South West<\/a> which&nbsp; includes the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, our Road Safety Team and other emergency services.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vision Zero aims to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on roads in Devon and Cornwall by 50 per cent by 2030.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ll be bringing emergency response vehicles along and giving people the chance to take part in a range of activities such as testing your braking reactions in an electric Ford Mustang car, learning CPR on interactive mannequins or exploring a Devon Air Ambulance helicopter on a virtual reality headset.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/drip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Devon Resilience Innovation Project<\/a> is another vital area of work we carry out; they help communities be better prepared for flooding and their stand will focus on the different ways that residents, landowners and communities can improve flood resilience.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adoptsouthwest.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adopt South West<\/a> will be available to discuss adoption, who can adopt, and the support that they offer to adopters, children and families throughout the adoption process.\u202f&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fosteringdevon.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">The\u202fFostering Service<\/a>\u202fwill also be back on the stand to discuss the vital, positive role that foster carers play in the lives of children in care in Devon and they\u2019ll be offering advice on how you can foster.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will also be joined by Mood Bears, the brand partner of Fostering South West, &nbsp;who will be on the stand on Friday and Saturday to talk to visitors about how Mood Bears can help children understand, express and manage their emotions. Keep an eye out as they\u2019ll also be running a competition to win a full set of Mood Bears each day!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another returning service will be trading standards who will be promoting local businesses through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Buy With Confidence<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madeindevon.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Made in Devon<\/a> schemes.\u202f\u202fVisitors can test their knowledge in their \u2018spot the fake\u2019 game and learn more about how to find trusted, reliable local businesses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By way of refreshment, visitors will be able to sit down and enjoy freshly ground barista-made coffee alongside a variety of delicious locally made cakes and savouries from\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheCoffeeStopSouthWest\/\" rel=\"noopener\">The Coffee Stop <\/a>who will be on the stand for all three days. We\u2019re also hoping to discourage thirsty show visitors from buying water in single-use plastic bottles, with South West Water\u2019s FREE water refill station \u2013 just bring your reusable water bottle to our stand to fill up!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202fOther council-related services will also be available in other areas of the showground.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the show, you can enjoy live music performed by children and young people from across Devon on the bandstand (Avenue K), presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musiceducationhub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Devon Music Education Hub<\/a>. The Hub is led by\u202fDevon Education Services, part of\u202fDevon County Council.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Road 9 you will find <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmwisedevon.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Farmwise<\/a> with the usual array of animals such as sheep, goats, cows, pigs\u202fand even a pony.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be lots for children to see and do including a shopping game, vintage farm machinery, soil investigation, butter making, the lambing simulator\u202fand a tractor run.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Performance and Partnerships team will also have a stand Avenue R, stand 453 where they will be showcasing the skills and business support that we offer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information about the Devon
