It can be good for our mental health, giving us a sense of purpose, boosting our self-worth, and providing opportunities to connect with others.&nbsp;But it can also be a source of stress and anxiety and contribute to developing or worsening mental health problems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mentalhealth.org.uk\/explore-mental-health\/publications\/how-support-mental-health-work\" rel=\"noopener\">Read the Mental Health Foundation guide<\/a> on how to support both your mental health and your colleagues\u2019 at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But whether we spend most of our time at work, at home, or elsewhere, making time for mental wellbeing and self-care is important &#8211; and embedding small things as part of your routine can help you feel better and more resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Promoting Positive Mental Wellbeing<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/mental-health\/self-help\/guides-tools-and-activities\/five-steps-to-mental-wellbeing\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Five Ways to Wellbeing<\/a> are simple steps you can take to feel more positive and able to get the most out of life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Connect<\/strong>\u202f- good relationships and connecting with others are important to build a sense of belonging and to share positive experiences.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Be active\u202f<\/strong>&#8211; being active is not only great for your physical health and fitness \u2013 it can also boost your mood.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Learn<\/strong>\u202f- learning new skills and doing new things can boost self-confidence and\u202fhelp build a sense of purpose.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Give<\/strong>\u202f- acts of giving and kindness can help to create positive feelings, a sense of reward and self-worth.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notice<\/strong>\u202f- paying more attention to the present moment can improve your mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Support and advice\u202f<\/strong>\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202fOur mental health and wellbeing can be affected by many things. We can all struggle sometimes, and it is important to seek support when you need it.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202fLocal and national organisations can offer advice and support:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Search <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/every-mind-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Every Mind Matters<\/a> for free, NHS approved advice and simple tips to help you look after your mental wellbeing&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/adult-social-care\/care-and-support\/disabilities\/mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mental health support<\/a>, including crisis support&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Developing skills and confidence&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There are evidence-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/adult-social-care\/independent-living\/health-and-wellbeing\/suicide-prevention-in-devon\/mh-suicide-training\/\">training courses available locally<\/a> to help develop knowledge and confidence to have conversations about mental health and wellbeing, including an emphasis on looking after our own mental wellbeing, to better support others:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community Suicide Awareness&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emotional Resilience&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect 5&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These courses are delivered by a network of local trainers and currently available to attend free of
