Tiverton Library is getting a big facelift next month with new warm, welcoming sitting and reading spaces being created for customers to enjoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The library will be closing from Monday 20 February<\/strong> for six weeks for the work, and open again on Monday 3 April<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Libraries Unlimited, the charity that runs the library service in Devon on our behalf, is investing in substantial changes to the building in Phoenix Lane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New cosy seating spaces will be created for customers to spend time in the library reading and relaxing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children\u2019s area will be expanded, and the whole library will be getting new furniture, fresh paint and a new carpet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A feature wall will be created to profile new books, and a mini meeting pod for two people will be created alongside the library\u2019s popular existing meeting room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Libraries Unlimited Chief Executive Alex Kittow<\/strong> said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLibraries Unlimited this winter launched its Libraries for Life campaign. It has proved extremely popular in inviting people to spend some time with us in a warm welcoming space, away from the worries about heating bills and the cost of living crisis. This refurbishment will substantially enhance what we offer at Tiverton Library and we very much hope people who live in and around the town who haven\u2019t yet visited us will be encouraged to pop in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Tiverton Library Senior Supervisor Rachel Gee<\/strong> said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a really substantial refit for one of Devon\u2019s busiest libraries. We\u2019ve listened to the community who have told us they want more comfy seating so they can stay longer, extra space to meet and study, new books, and a larger area for children and families.\u00a0 Along with our WiFi, printing and IT facilities, and our programme of regular events and activities, we\u2019re giving people even more reason not only to come and see what we have to offer, but to stay longer, enjoying a warm welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council\u2019s Cabinet Member responsible for Devon\u2019s library service, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n \t\t

\u201cThis is great news for library users in Tiverton. These improvements will create a more inviting and comfortable space for the community. Once the refurbishment is completed, I\u2019ll be encouraging local residents to come along to take a look at everything the library now offers, and to join if they are not already members.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t<\/blockquote>\r\n

Libraries Unlimited has extended book loans at Tiverton Library by six weeks so that none are due to be returned during the time the library is closed, and customers are encouraged to borrow up to 20 books to make sure they have plenty to read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re also invited to use online services to reserve, renew and browse at devonlibraries.org.uk<\/a>\u00a0or visit the nearest libraries at Cullompton, Bampton, Crediton and Exeter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
