{"id":58826,"date":"2022-12-20T17:53:32","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=58826"},"modified":"2022-12-20T18:00:19","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T18:00:19","slug":"check-before-you-travel-rail-industrial-action-from-24-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/check-before-you-travel-rail-industrial-action-from-24-december\/","title":{"rendered":"Check before you travel &#8211; rail industrial action from 24 December"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Railway Trades unions have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gwr.com\/strike\" rel=\"noopener\">announced strikes and industrial action,<\/a>&nbsp;over December and January that will affect rail services from Saturday 24 December 2022 to Sunday 8 January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We are expecting Devon&#8217;s roads to be busier than usual during this period,<\/strong> <strong>so please follow Devon Alert on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DevonAlert\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DevonAlert?\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> for the latest traffic and travel updates from our Network Control Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rail services will be very busy with<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>last trains departing much earlier.\u00a0Only travel if absolutely necessary and Great Western Railway (GWR) advise you to complete your journey by lunchtime. Check before you travel, and if possible consider making your journey on another day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GWR say tickets for 24 December can be used on either Wednesday 21, Thursday 22, Friday 23 December or up to and including Thursday 29 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that there will be significantly fewer trains in Devon and the last services on each route are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>London Paddington to Plymouth\/Totnes \u2013 1C80 1204 dep, 1444 TOT arr, 1512 PLY arr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>London Paddington to Exeter\/Newton Abbot \u2013 1C82 1304 dep, 1515 EXD, 1536 NTA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plymouth\/Totnes\/Newton Abbot\/Exeter. 1A86 1314 PLY, 1341 TOT, 1353 NTA, 1415 EXD, arr 1631 PAD.
