The first in a series of free events organised through the newly formed Devon Agri-Tech Alliance will be held on Friday 18 November.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Alliance has been established as part of the DATA (Devon Agri-Tech Accelerator) project<\/a> in order to help make innovation more accessible for Devon\u2019s agriculture sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its aim will be to connect farmers and other agricultural businesses (including aquaculture, forestry and horticulture) with agri-tech developers and research organisations to help shape and test future research and innovative solutions and practices, ensuring they are practical and relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its inaugural Farm Innovation Event, which will be held from 10am-2pm on Friday 18 November at Upton Farm, near Cullompton (EX15 1RA)<\/a>, will be an opportunity for agricultural businesses to hear first-hand about new technological opportunities and innovative ways of working. The event could lead to collaborative working to test new ideas, feedback on new technology and help design future research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n

Councillor Rufus Gilbert, Cabinet Member for Economic Recovery and Skills, said: <\/p><\/div>\r\n \t\t

\u201cThis is the first of a series of events and workshops designed to bring together agricultural businesses, agri-tech developers and academic researchers. We are really keen that as many farmers as possible become part of the Alliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Alliance will be shaped by its members, so this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction it takes and ensure that it is relevant for Devon farmers. The knowledge that everyone involved will gain could directly benefit local agriculture business and their future plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t<\/blockquote>\r\n

The DATA project has provided support and research for farmers, growers, landowners, and other agricultural and Agri-Tech businesses to develop innovations which can help build a sustainable farming community within Devon. It is hoped that the Alliance can take this forward in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are working on the DATA project with Business Information Point<\/a>, Duchy College Rural Business School<\/a>, and the University of Plymouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is supported with UK Government funding through the UK Community Renewal Funding secured by Team Devon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
