{"id":57081,"date":"2022-07-20T15:11:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T14:11:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=57081"},"modified":"2022-07-20T15:11:39","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T14:11:39","slug":"greystone-bridge-near-tavistock-to-be-closed-for-essential-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/greystone-bridge-near-tavistock-to-be-closed-for-essential-repairs\/","title":{"rendered":"Greystone Bridge near Tavistock to be closed for essential repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Essential repairs will be carried out to Greystone Bridge on the B3362 in west Devon from next week (Monday 25 July), with the road due to be closed for two weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grade 1 Listed bridge, between Tavistock and Launceston, was damaged by trees and debris that had washed into the River Tamar during stormy conditions last November, leaving one of the granite piers with a void towards its base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the bridge\u2019s structure was not impacted, a protective shield was installed on the damaged pier as a temporary measure to prevent further erosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Weather permitting, permanent repairs are scheduled to get underway on Monday (25 July) and are expected to be completed by Sunday 7 August.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_62d7e8cbc7f28\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Stuart Hughes,Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said: <\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>\u201cThis is the earliest opportunity that we\u2019ve had to carry out this essential repair work. As this medieval bridge is listed, consent is required to work on it and the repairs that are needed can only be done at this time of year when water levels are lower.
