{"id":56768,"date":"2022-06-24T13:49:31","date_gmt":"2022-06-24T12:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=56768"},"modified":"2022-06-24T15:49:53","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T14:49:53","slug":"a379-at-stoke-fleming-re-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/a379-at-stoke-fleming-re-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"A379 at Stoke Fleming re-opens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The A379 at Stoke Fleming has re-opened this morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost 30 metres of privately owned boundary wall running alongside the highway has now been taken down and made safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road has been closed for a month after a five-metre crack appeared in a 16ft high section of the wall \u2013 making it a safety risk to road users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emergency work has been carried out to remove the structure and that initial work has now been completed, making it possible to re-open the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road has been swept and diversion signs are being taken down this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_62b5ce224ba11\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Stuart Hughes, Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>\u201cOur thanks must go to the owner of the wall and their contractor for taking a positive decision and cracking on with the job, as well as everyone who has helped play a part in getting the road open safely. This has ensured that people that regularly use this road have not been put at risk.
