Devon Carers, a service providing support to carers, would like people to help raise awareness of caring by walking A Mile With A Smile to highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout Devon. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Mile With A Smile was started by Devon Carers during Carers Week 2020 and its popularity has increased over the last couple of years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, (commencing Monday 6 June), is Carers Week, and the theme this year is ‘Making caring visible, valued and supported.’ <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andy Hood, Head of Devon Carers, said\u00a0 <\/p>

\u201cWe would love as many people as possible to walk a mile, by yourself or with family and friends, to help us raise awareness of the amazing contribution unpaid carers make. You may know of someone who is looking after a family member, friend or neighbour \u2013 tell them about our service because we are here to support them throughout their caring journey.<\/p>

“Don\u2019t forget to take a photo of you walking with a smile, send it to us at online@devoncarers.org.uk<\/a> and we will add it to our website. Our goal is to collectively walk the 350 mile perimeter of Devon!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In addition, as part of Carers Week, Devon Carers is working collaboratively with both Plymouth and Torbay carers services to host a range of in-person and online workshops and activities, please visit<\/a> Carers Week – Devon Carers<\/a> for the full diary of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
