{"id":56089,"date":"2022-05-04T16:50:09","date_gmt":"2022-05-04T15:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=56089"},"modified":"2022-05-05T15:15:23","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T14:15:23","slug":"teignmouth-seafront-streetlights-being-replaced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/teignmouth-seafront-streetlights-being-replaced\/","title":{"rendered":"Teignmouth seafront streetlights being replaced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Work has started today (Wednesday 4 May) to replace around 40 streetlighting columns along Teignmouth seafront ahead of the summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We removed 10 of the columns last October as a safety precaution, after defects were found during routine inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Installation of the new streetlights is expected to be completed by the first week in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The replacement columns will be galvanised steel with low energy LED lighting units. The lights will include sensors to enable lighting times and brightness to be controlled remotely. The columns will also be installed with power supplies to enable CCTV to be added as well as additional lighting such as Christmas lights.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_62729ebdc3191\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Stuart Hughes, Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>\u201cIt\u2019s good news that this work is starting and will be completed before the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee. The new features the street lighting will bring to our seafront will have huge benefits around carbon reduction and environmental impact and will bring benefits for all the residents and visitors alike.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The remainder of the lighting columns along the seafront are still being monitored but it is likely they will need to be replaced within the next 10
