{"id":55026,"date":"2022-02-14T10:24:55","date_gmt":"2022-02-14T10:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=55026"},"modified":"2022-07-01T12:38:13","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T11:38:13","slug":"essential-repairs-planned-for-bickleigh-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/essential-repairs-planned-for-bickleigh-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Essential repairs planned for Bickleigh Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Bickleigh Bridge on the A396 in Mid<\/strong> <strong>Devon will be closed for<\/strong> <strong>two days next week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essential work will be carried out on the bridge on Monday 21 February and Tuesday 22 February and due to the narrow road width over the bridge it will need to be closed on both days for the safety of public and staff working on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parapet on the Tiverton side of the structure needs to be repaired after being damaged by a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tree debris which has built up against the piers of the bridge will be removed to reduce the risk of scour damage to the structure\u2019s cutwaters. The closure will also enable fencing work to be undertaken.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_6206235203ef4\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Stuart Hughes, Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>\u201cEvery effort is being made to minimise disruption while carrying out this work, which is why it\u2019s been timed for only a couple of days of the half term holiday. It\u2019s unfortunate that we\u2019re having to repair vehicle damage to the bridge again, but it has to be done.
