Youth Hub Devon has earned recognition from a<\/strong> Government Minister for its success since it opened last summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 75 young people have been helped to find a job, training or further education by the hub since it opened in July 2021 \u2013 and the hub recently met with the Minister for Employment, Mims Davies MP as part of a virtual roundtable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister heard first-hand how a Youth Hub brings together various partners, including local businesses, training providers and council services to offer a comprehensive service, with young people offered tailored support to find work, enrol into further education or re-skill for alternative careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Hub Devon is part of the UK Government\u2019s multi-billion-pound Plan for Jobs and is one of hundreds of hubs open across the country. The hub has also received funding from Devon County Council and Exeter City Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Hub Devon operates out of Exeter Works in Princesshay in the city centre and is known for its close public transport links. Youth Hub Devon also covers East and Mid Devon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister for Employment Mims Davies MP said:<\/strong> \u201cI was delighted to meet virtually with colleagues at the Youth Hub in Devon to hear about their successes to-date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYouth Hubs like this one, provide tailored support to help young people to secure life changing career opportunities and get on that first rung of the employment ladder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delivering for jobseekers across the UK, and just last week announced a new drive to get half a million people out of work into jobs by the end of June as part of the Way to Work campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

Councillor Rufus Gilbert, Cabinet Member for Economic Recovery and Skills, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n \t\t

\u201cThe focus of the hub puts the young person at the heart of their own journey giving them the confidence to achieve work, training and\/or further education. We have already seen that Youth Hub Devon is playing a key role in Devon\u2019s economic recovery by opening the door of opportunity for young people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t<\/blockquote>\r\n

Councillor Rachel Sutton, Exeter City Council’s Lead Councillor with responsibility for the Skills agenda, said: <\/strong>\u201cExeter City Council is proud to host the Youth Hub in the Exeter Works space. This has enabled greater partnership working in the city, with a unique collaboration of support for people seeking jobs in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Hub Devon is currently working with a further 65 young people and we are interested in hearing from employers who would like to be involved in events at the hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young people have found employment, training and apprenticeships with a number of local companies, including: Greendale, Devon County Council, The Bug Man Ltd, Community Health and Care Charity, South West Water, Woodbury Hotel Golf Club and the Recycled Candle Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The friendly team at the hub are supporting young people into employment helping them to improve job searching skills and build confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Hub Devon works in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, Young Devon, the CSW Group, local businesses, colleges, and has links to Devon Mind. Services offered by the hub include careers advice, CV writing, interviews, job searches and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophie:<\/strong> \u201cRhian helped me with my CV and to get the application done for Westbank and she was always there if I need any help with things and she was a pleasure to know and to still keep in touch with. Thank you for all your help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harrison:<\/strong> \u201cThe Youth Hub is a more relaxed environment. Rhian has helped me with CV writing, confidence building and has helped me to search for jobs. We meet regularly and keep in touch.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
