{"id":54579,"date":"2021-12-14T16:57:21","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T16:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=54579"},"modified":"2021-12-14T16:57:24","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T16:57:24","slug":"its-not-too-late-to-get-any-of-your-vaccinations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/its-not-too-late-to-get-any-of-your-vaccinations\/","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s not too late to get any of your vaccinations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"block_61b8cbe3c0f77\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right other has-white-color has-black-background-color grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Steve Brown, Devon\u2019s Director of Public Health Devon, said this week: <\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>\u201cThe emergence of the Omicron variant, and the uncertainty right now about its impact on our health, is a reminder of how quickly situations can change.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWe know that the Omicron strain of the coronavirus is more infectious than previous variants, and it is clear that we need to do more to reduce the risk of transmission.\u202fTaking up third or booster vaccination is vital, and I would encourage everyone who is eligible to do so as soon as possible.\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI also urge everyone to heed the national guidance around the wearing of face coverings, now a requirement in most public places, especially in confined, indoor and crowded spaces; to work from home if you can; and to social distance as much as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAnd from today (14 December), people who are double vaccinated or between 5 years and 18 and a half years, who are identified as a contact of someone with coronavirus, whether Omicron or not, will need to take a lateral flow test every day for a week. People who are unvaccinated and identified as a contact to someone with the virus will need to self-isolate for 10 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cBut while take up of the vaccines in Devon has been very good, not everyone has chosen to.\u202fMy message to those who are eligible to do so but who have not yet chosen to take up the vaccine, is that it\u2019s not too late.\u202fOne dose is better than no dose, two doses are better than one, and three doses will give you better protection than two doses from becoming seriously unwell if you to catch coronavirus.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t<\/blockquote>\r\n        <div class=\"councillor-quote-aside medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n\t<figure class=\"councillor-quote-image grid-x\">\r\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"small-6 cell medium-12\"
