{"id":53640,"date":"2021-10-15T10:33:51","date_gmt":"2021-10-15T09:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/?p=53640"},"modified":"2021-10-20T10:34:37","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T09:34:37","slug":"communities-benefit-from-200k-funding-to-help-them-reconnect-rebuild-and-recover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/communities-benefit-from-200k-funding-to-help-them-reconnect-rebuild-and-recover\/","title":{"rendered":"Communities benefit from \u00a3200k funding to help them reconnect rebuild and recover"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Community-led facilities and activities, like many things, were quickly suspended during the onset of the national coronavirus lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When life slowly started returning to some degree of normality we were keen to help local communities get back to doing the things they love safely and confidently, so we created a special fund to support them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the last three months our Reconnect Rebuild Recover Community Fund has provided over \u00a3217,000 grant funding to 131 organisations across Devon to help local people to reconnect, rebuild and recover their community-led facilities and\/or social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The money is being used to support people to participate in activities that improve their physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing; provide safe community-led transportation links and services which encourage and help people to re-connect and re-socialise safely within their communities and encourage people to develop skills and learning through volunteering their time, knowledge and expertise to help and support the facilities and\/or social activity and the people using them.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"block_616fe19a8b468\" class=\"councillor-quote align-right dcc grid-x\">\r\n\t<blockquote class=\"councillor-quote-blockquote medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n                    <div class=\"councillor-quote-title\"><p>Councillor Roger Croad, Cabinet Member for Communities, said:<\/p><\/div>\r\n        \t\t<div class=\"councillor-quote-text\"><p>&#8220;Devon has a fantastic network of community groups that work hard to support vulnerable residents and maintain people\u2019s physical and mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we recover from this pandemic it is important our communities remain well-connected and resilient, so I\u2019m pleased that through this fund, we have continued to support these organisations and the inspiring work they do to help the people in their communities to live healthy and fulfilling lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n\t<\/blockquote>\r\n        <div class=\"councillor-quote-aside medium-auto small-12 cell\">\r\n\t<figure class=\"councillor-quote-image grid-x\">\r\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"small-6 cell medium-12\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/news\/wp-content\/themes\/dcc-parent-v4\/images\/avatar-placeholder.png\" alt=\"Councillor Roger Croad\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\r\n        <figcaption class=\"councillor-quote-description small-6 cell medium-12\" >\r\n                        <a href=\"https:\/\/democracy.devon.gov.uk\/mgUserInfo.aspx?UID=133\" rel=\"noopener\">Councillor Roger Croad, Cabinet Member for Public Health, Communities and Equality<\/a><\/figcaption>\r\n            <\/figure>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n    \r\n    <\/div>\n\n\n<p>Applications for funding will close at 12 noon on Wednesday 27 October.
