Using the power of Hypnotic suggestion a small, pink, fluffy feline called ‘Hypnocat’ is heading up a new campaign to persuade you to recycle your small old electricals. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discarded old electrical items are one of the fastest-growing sources of waste in the world – last year over 50 million tonnes were thrown away globally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now ‘HypnoCat’, on behalf of the Recycle Your Electricals campaign, plans to issue a series of rallying calls to stop electrical waste and to repair, reuse and recycle instead.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are hoarding or throwing away valuable materials that are lost forever.  In reality, these small old, unwanted electricals contain 75 per cent of materials that can be recycled or reused, such as precious materials like gold, aluminium and steel.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly all of us have a messy drawer somewhere around the house. And in it we\u2019ll likely find odd cables, an old smartphone, discarded headphones or numerous other electricals. In fact, UK householders are hoarding 527 million small electricals items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having a clear out? Some charities accept donations of working electricals \u2013 find donation points near you<\/a>. Your old tech can be reused to help children with schoolwork or keep older people connected to loved ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broken electrical items may be repairable \u2013 check out your nearest repair caf\u00e9<\/a> for more information. If not, they can be recycled and turned into everything from bicycles to lifesaving equipment or solar panels \u2013 or even into new electricals. The possibilities are endless!  However, if these items are binned rather than recycled, that potential is lost forever. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Recycle Your Electricals Campaign is making recycling small old electricals easier than ever before by providing an information hub<\/a> for the UK on how to recycle electricals, and a postcode locator<\/a> with details of over 2,500 recycling, repair and reuse points across the UK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
