Work to introduce temporary safety measures on Brixton Road Station Bridge near Elburton are expected to be completed this week (w/c 29 April).

In order to reduce the weight on the structure, changes are being made to the layout to prevent HGVs from crossing the bridge at the same time.

The width of the road is being narrowed and the speed limit is being reduced from 40mph to 30mph.

New speed restrictions signs were installed earlier this month, but the wet weather meant that lines and verge markers could not be painted on the road when initially scheduled.

This work is now planned to commence from around 7:30pm tomorrow evening (Wednesday 1 May), but again is weather dependent. It’s due to continue on Thursday (2 May) and Friday (3 May) outside of peak hours.
