Devon County Show is one of the county’s flagship events, welcoming thousands of visitors each year, and an opportunity for us to showcase the breadth of services we deliver across Devon and the partnerships we are proud to be part of.
Taking place from Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 May, our stand will once again bring together services and partner organisations, offering activities, advice and information for people of all ages.
This year, we will be joined by…
- Fostering Devon and Adopt South West – sharing information about how to become foster carers or adopters, and the vital role carers play in children’s lives
- Devon Bus Enhanced Partnership (Transport Coordination Service) – Will be promoting the arrival of Zero Emission Buses in Devon this year and encouraging people to use bus services and public transport across Devon
- Recycle Devon and Waste Management – promoting recycling, waste reduction and reuse
- Schools Library Service – encouraging ‘Reading for pleasure’ with a free book for each young person visiting their stand on the day. Visitors can share a story with Elmer activity, bookmark competition with prizes to be won, plus booklists to take away.
- Devon Resilience Innovation Project and the Devon Climate Emergency team – bringing together climate resilience and flood resilience, they’ll be exploring what a flood resilient Devon looks like. Discover simple, practical steps you can take at home to slow the flow of rainwater, reduce flood risk, cut carbon emissions, and support nature and biodiversity.
- South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service – providing information on fire prevention, road safety, how to perform CPR and defibrillator training
- Public Health, Trading Standards and Communities – offering advice on 5 ways to health and wellbeing, consumer protection advice and community support
- Employment and Skills – promoting training opportunities, skills development and employment support across Devon
We’re also pleased to have Camper Coffee joining us this year, providing refreshments throughout the show. We’ll also once more have South West Water with their free water refill point, so don’t forget your reusable bottles!
Our stand will give showgoers the opportunity to learn more about our services, ask questions, take part in interactive activities and find out how Devon County Council and our partners work together to support residents, businesses and communities across the county.
Throughout the show, you can enjoy live music performed by children and young people from across Devon on the bandstand (Avenue K), presented by Devon Music Education Hub. The Hub is led by Devon Education Services, part of Devon County Council.
You can experience a rich variety of live music on all three days of the show by visiting the bandstand on Avenue K, with music performed by children and young people from local schools and Devon Music Education Hub-supported activities across, Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay.
Also at the show, Farmwise will be back in their usual spot with lots for children to see and do – from cooking workshops, butter making and planting seeds, to new interactive activities about bees and forestry, alongside farm animals and impressive machinery.
Devon Food Partnership will also be located in the Farmwise area. Visitors can expect ‘The Bread Test’, ‘What’s in the Bag?’ and colouring ‘The Devon Rainbow’! Partnership members will be on hand to guide through the activities and chat about all things local food.
