Residents’ parking in St Thomas; what are your views?

Residents' parking sign

We’re asking local people to give their views on our proposals to introduce a residents’ parking scheme in the St Thomas area of Exeter.

Today, Thursday, August 31, we published a Traffic Regulation Order outlining proposals in the Wardrew Road area, and the Ferndale Road area which includes Barton Road, Edwin Road and Queens Road areas

Our proposals follow consultations across eleven areas of Exeter between 2018 and 2020 which helped us better understand residents’ views on the introduction of residents parking restrictions in these areas.

These consultations followed concerns from local people who said they found it difficult to park on-street near their homes.

The areas we consulted on were the areas surrounding Barton Road, Cotfield Street, Ebrington Road, Heraldry Way, New Valley Road, Newcourt, Princes Street, Southbrook Road, Sweetbrier Lane, Wardrew Road and Woodwater Lane.

The results were then considered by Exeter Highways and Traffic Orders Committee who agreed which schemes should be looked at, starting with designs for the St Thomas area.

More information about residents’ parking schemes can be found in the consultation handout document.

The consultation will run from Thursday 31 August until 21 September 2023

Residents within each area will be receiving information in the post with details of the consultation and how to respond.

Responses to the consultation can be submitted via;

Responses must be received by 21 September 2023
