Repairs carried out to stabilise road at Newton Poppleford

Posted on:

Work has been carried out today (Friday 26 May) on a stabilisation scheme to repair a section of the A3052 at Newton Poppleford.

A stretch of Exeter Road was damaged during the flash floods that hit parts of the county on Tuesday 9 May, with floodwater causing the verge to collapse.

Teams have been on site clearing remaining floodwater and silt, before carrying out repairs to the foundations of the road by infilling the section which had been undermined.

Councillor Stuart Hughes, Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said:

“I’m pleased to see this work being carried out to make the road safe for the public again. The A3052 is a busy road so we’re keen to get the temporary lights removed as quickly as we can.”

The road is now safe for use and temporary traffic lights will be removed from this part of Exeter Road (A3052) as soon as possible. Work will be carried out at Four Elms Hill at a later date.
