Have your say on plans for bus lane at Roundswell

Plan of proposed bus lane

A public consultation has been launched on proposals for a bus lane at Roundswell in Barnstaple.

We’re inviting people to have their say on the plans during the consultation which runs until Friday 23 June.

Proposals include bus priority along 500 metres between Gratton Way and Roundswell roundabout via a new bus lane.

The scheme will improve bus journey times for services from Barnstaple towards Roundswell roundabout, promoting bus priority for buses to avoid queuing traffic and ensuring more reliable bus services onto the A39.

Councillor Andrea Davis, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, said:

“This consultation is a good opportunity to comment on these proposals and we’re keen to hear your views. By improving the journey times and reliability of bus services, passengers will have a better experience and the aim will be to encourage greater use of public transport services.”

The scheme forms part of Devon County Council’s Bus Services Improvement Plan which has secured Government funding to prioritise bus improvements across the county.

The feedback from the consultation will inform the final design of the scheme and we will aim to build the scheme by Spring 2025.

You can feedback your comments on the proposals which can be sent by email to transportplanning-mailbox@devon.gov.uk, call 0345 155 1015, or complete the questionnaire on our Have Your Say webpages by Friday 23 June.
