Gritter vehicle turns over after hitting icy patch on Dartmoor

A gritter vehicle turned over on its side having skidded on ice

Devon County Council has reported that one of its gritter vehicles skidded and turned over while treating a road on Dartmoor overnight.

The gritter, one of a fleet of vehicles out last night treating the county’s roads, hit an icy patch on the B3212 between Princetown and Two Bridges in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The driver of the vehicle is said to be uninjured, but was taken to Derriford Hospital as a precaution.

The B3357 Pork Hill to Princetown, and the B3212 from Dousland to Princetown are temporarily closed due to the icy conditions.

The Council this morning is warning drivers and other road users to take care on Devon’s roads.
