Students receiving their A-Level, AS-Level, T-Level and BTEC results today (Thursday 13 August) and GCSE results next week, are being reminded that help and advice is available at Devon’s network of Employment and Youth Hubs.
There are hubs across the county in Barnstaple, Bideford, Crediton, Exeter, Honiton, Ilfracombe, Newton Abbot, Okehampton, and Tiverton, with one due to open in Totnes next Thursday (20 August) on GCSE results day.
They all offer free, friendly support to anyone aged 16 and over who is exploring options for further education, training, or work.
Youth provision is an integral part of the of the Employment and Youth Hub service. Over the past year, they have provided support to 410 young people in Devon aged 16 to 24.
For those young people collecting their results, no matter what grades they achieve, the hubs are here to help them move forward with confidence – enabling them to consider the wide range of options that are available to them, aligning their interests and exploring options that perhaps haven’t been ‘on their radar’.
Staff work to support young people on their journey to training and employment. They can provide one-to-one guidance on CV writing, interview preparation, career planning, advice on how to access apprenticeships or training, and much more.
Advisors at the hubs work at each person’s pace and offer ongoing support tailored to individual needs.

“Good luck to everyone receiving their A-Level, AS-Level, T-Level and BTEC results this week or GCSE results next week.
“It can be an anxious moment, and I know from my own experience that I had to re-take a subject to carry on with my chosen studies. But we strongly believe that exam results are only a snapshot in time. They do not define who you are or determine your future career path.
“I would encourage everyone to remember that our Employment and Youth Hubs are here to help.
“They offer an excellent service which is available to anyone aged 16 and over, with no upper age limit, across Devon. Whether it’s an appointment in-person, support online or over the phone, people can access help in the way that works best for them.
“Our experienced teams take the time to listen to each individual, helping them explore their options at a pace that feels right for them. We focus on the question of ‘what next?’ rather than putting pressure on people to make a lifelong decision. Today’s workforce is constantly changing, and many people will move between different jobs, careers, and sectors throughout their lives.
“Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are also supported to identify opportunities such as supported internships and apprenticeships.
“For people aged 18 and over who want to work but face barriers due to a disability, health condition, or other life challenges, our Hubs are the gateway to the Government’s Connect to Work programme. Through this service, individuals can receive up to a year of tailored Supported Employment from an Employment Specialist, helping them find and sustain meaningful work.
