Exeter Library re-opened in May 2014 following a £4.2 million investment in the previous Central Library. It has been redeveloped to become a Devon Centre to offer a wider range of Council services. Alongside a flagship library for the city and wider county, Exeter Library provides independent living training facilities for adults with learning disabilities, facilities for vulnerable families needing help and support, enterprise advice and support for business start-ups. In the five months since opening there have been over 250,000 visits.
Exeter Library was not included in the Devon Libraries consultation as there had been a significant amount of public consultation and stakeholder engagement over the past 2 years to inform the re-development.
