Our service

For over 25 years our NHS Occupational Therapy team has been helping people in Devon find equipment solutions to stay active and independent. We are not a shop, we won’t try to sell you anything, which is why you can trust us to guide you through the gadgets and solutions to suit you. We hope you will call, email or visit our centre to speak to our Occupational Therapists and try out equipment, innovative gadgets and technology that might help you.

Our Occupational Therapy Team Can Help You find Equipment to Keep Active and Connected.

The Independent Living Centre NHS Occupational Therapy team is aware of the impacts that COVID 19 lockdown will be having on individuals with long term health conditions, when people may be isolated and having to manage at home with less support than usual. Our team can give advice and information about equipment and techniques to help you stay safe, mobile, and connected. Our service is free and our lines are open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm Tel: 01392 380181 or you can email us for advice ilc-exeter@devon.gov.uk

To help you keep in touch with family and friends, talk to us about simple technology and Apps that will work with your phone or tablet. We can tell you about the features and advantages of using simple digital devices that we have tried for easy video calls and instant messaging with family and friends.

We can guide you through equipment that can help you keep mobile and safe within your home, such as supporting you to find the best ways to get out of bed, staying independent in the bathroom, sitting comfortably in your chair or managing tasks in the kitchen. Our Occupational Therapists can give you advice and support by phone or email and we can even set up a ‘virtual assessment’ to show you gadgets and equipment to help keep you safe and well at home.
