Members were given the opportunity to discuss and prepare questions&nbsp;for this&nbsp;Q&amp;A,&nbsp;and they were circulated to all JEF members once they were collated, with an opportunity&nbsp;for individuals to&nbsp;amend&nbsp;theirs&nbsp;if necessary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Councillors began by&nbsp;introducing themselves and explaining their&nbsp;roles&nbsp;and&nbsp;confirming that they would like to use this meeting to create more opportunities for engagement, then answered questions.&nbsp;Attendees asked their questions and each Councillor had the chance to answer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Local Engagement round up: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Co-production<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-production&nbsp;Advisory Group (COAG)&nbsp;have met as a group and adjusted&nbsp;their&nbsp;workshop to one hour and&nbsp;made&nbsp;it more interactive.\u202fThey&nbsp;will be\u202ffacilitating\u202fa\u202fworkshop for leadership trainees\u202fon\u202fMay\u202f5th,\u202fand this will be at County Hall.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ethnically Diverse&nbsp;Community Involvement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hikmat&nbsp;is&nbsp;in the process of changing\u202fto be\u202fhalf charity, half CIC, which is lots of work\u202fat the moment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some service users are&nbsp;upset,&nbsp;and Hikmat&nbsp;are&nbsp;struggling to help them. Many of the Afghan community are being rejected;375&nbsp;women\u2019s applications rejected in the last two months. In Lebanon, 620,000 women need&nbsp;help. Some being rejected&nbsp;for family reunion&nbsp;in the U.K. There are millions of women who are suffering in Palestine,&nbsp;Gaza&nbsp;and the Sudan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Carer Ambassadors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read through&nbsp;recent Carer Ambassadors activities and their impacts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Older People\/Age UK&nbsp;Devon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report\u202fidentifies\u202fa systemic failure to meet the Care Act 2014 duty to provide\u202ftimely\u202finformation and advice. While Age UK Devon acknowledges DCC\u2019s efforts to speed up some assessments, the evidence shows that:\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Delays, unclear communication, and tone issues\u202fremain\u202fwidespread\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial distress and emotional harm could often have been avoided through better early engagement\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improved communication, clearer explanations, and basic acknowledgement of contact would significantly reduce anxiety and complaints<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disability Together Engagement<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full update circulated after the meeting.&nbsp;Discussed what work Disability Together has been working on in the last Quarter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The learning Disability Partnership Board<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Health and Social Care Group led a session on barriers faced by people&nbsp;with learning&nbsp;disabilities when trying to access an ASC assessment at February&#8217;s&nbsp;Board.&nbsp;Key&nbsp;council officers have been invited to the June Board to address the issues and barriers&nbsp;raised to&nbsp;see how they can be rectified.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Group members recorded a script that will\u202faccompany\u202fa short animation that explains how&nbsp;to apply&nbsp;for a concessionary bus pass. It is quite a complicated\u202fprocess,\u202fand you\u202fmust\u202fprovide evidence&nbsp;of your eligibility.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Learning disability \u2013 Friendship Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reporting process has been adjusted so our\u202ffocus\u202fhas been on working through Adult social care issues that arise within the groups.&nbsp;Two&nbsp;recent guest speakers have been&nbsp;Francesca\u202fRivo, re-psychotropic medications.
