Highlights included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Councillor Roles and Council Structure<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>An overview was given of Devon County Council\u2019s two\u2011tier system, Adult Social Care leadership, and how councillors work through scrutiny committees and the Health and Wellbeing Board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Developing Questions for Councillors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Members focused on creating meaningful, non\u2011tokenistic questions about lived experience, accountability, access, equality, and how engagement leads to real change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">April 2025 Joint Engagement Forum Preparation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It was agreed that questions would be finalised, collated, and shared with councillors in advance to allow informed responses at the April meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Co\u2011production Activity<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Updates highlighted successful co\u2011production work, including awareness sessions delivered by people with lived experience for Devon County Council training programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Autism and Neurodiversity Engagement<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Devon offers extensive autism support through multiple weekly groups, new planned services, a public health needs assessment, and continued provision of Autism Alert Cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethnically Diverse Community Engagement<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Community activities successfully engaged large numbers of people through cultural, educational, and environmental events that promoted inclusion and sustainability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carer Ambassador Programme<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Carer Ambassador scheme remains stable and effective, influencing improvements across health, transport, digital access, autism, and respite care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Older People\u2019s Experiences<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Age UK Devon reported a mix of positive collaboration and concerns, particularly around financial assessments, communication delays, and unexpected charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Disability Partnership Work<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Plans were shared for the Learning Disability Partnership Board\u2019s 2026 programme, focusing on reasonable adjustments, transport, assessments, and reducing harm from medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adult Social Care Survey and Escalation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Adult Social Care User Survey was highlighted as a key tool for service improvement, with engagement issues being escalated through formal governance routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next forum will take place on\u00a021st April<strong> 2026<\/strong>, featuring a Q&amp;A with senior leaders.
