Flooding has affected the school on 8 occasions in the past 10 years. The Environment Agency has confirmed flooding presents a risk to life for pupils and staff and the only solution is to move the school to a new site outside of flood zone.<\/p>\n<p>A fundamental challenge to building a replacement school is the availability of funding. In order to bridge the \u00a35 million shortfall in funding needed for the new school, Devon County Council recently consulted on a proposal which would relocate the school to Thorne Farm in Ottery St Mary alongside the development of 150 homes.<\/p>\n<p>Further information about the proposal can be found in the community consultation leaflet below.<\/p>\n<p>The comments that have been received to the consultation will inform the preparation of a planning application which will be submitted to East Devon District Council in 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Devon County Council has been working for a number of years to find a solution to the significant flood risk present at Tipton St John Primary School.
