Commissioning Involvement Group (CIG) meeting held on 9th October 2018

 Summary of meeting

The CIG discussions included:

The meeting was given an update on The Co-Production Workshop was held as part of the last CIG meeting on the 11th September.

The workshop had taken part in various activities to discuss the meaning of co-production.

‘The New Enabling Offer’

 Hannah Hurrell came along to talk about:

  • ‘The New Enabling Offer’
  • ‘The Disability Transformation Project’
  • ‘New Enabling Project Offer’

The vision for these projects is trying to change people’s mind-sets and attitudes and to make them think with the attitude of “I want to do well for myself”. Also, to be able to help enable the families as well as the service users.

Reasonable Adjustments Paper

The group were presented with a paper written by Paul Giblin, outlining draft policy principles for Devon County Council Adult Care and Health Involvement, Engagement and Consultation Groups. One important section explained: ‘The Equality Act 2010 places a duty on organisations to make “reasonable adjustments” to any provision, criterion or practice that they apply and to physical features of their premises, to accommodate the needs of disabled people.’
