Brown tourist signs with a Barge or Country Park logo, lead from the surrounding road network to the Canal Basin car park on Canal Hill.<\/div>\n\n<hr \/>\n<h4>For access to the central section of the Canal<\/h4>\n<div>The surrounding road network makes it possible to access the canal at regular intervals along its entire length.<\/div>\n<p><strong>From Tiverton<\/strong> &#8211; take the road towards Halberton, passing Blundells School;<\/p>\n<p><strong>From the M5<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0 Turn off the M5 at Junction 27 and follow the A361 North Devon Link Road, taking the first exit to Sampford Peverell.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>To access the northern end of the Canal<\/h4>\n<p><strong>From the M5<\/strong> &#8211; Turn off the M5 at Junction 27 and follow the A38 to Wellington and follow signs to Burlescombe.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\" data-accordion-item>\r\n<a href=\"#mac2\" id=\"head2\" role=\"tab\" class=\"accordion-title\" aria-controls=\"mac2\">On foot or by bike <\/a><div id=\"mac2\" aria-labelledby=\"head2\" class=\"accordion-content\" data-tab-content><div class=\"targetclass\" >\n<h3>How to find us on foot<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3173\" title=\"Fingerpost sign\" src=\"http:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/grandwesterncanal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2023\/11\/Finger-posts-e1700495153240.jpg\" alt=\"Fingerpost sign\" width=\"144\" height=\"159\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can walk or cycle to the Grand Western Canal.<\/p>\n<p>If on foot, follow the fingerposts directional signs that have been installed around Tiverton town towards the Canal. The fingerposts are colour coordinated to the destinations &#8211; follow the green sign for the Canal.<\/p>\n\n<hr \/>\n<h3>How to find us by bike<\/h3>\n<p>Cycling is a popular way for families and individuals to access and explore the Country Park. <a href=\"https:\/\/devoncc.sharepoint.com\/sites\/PublicDocs\/Transport\/Cycle\/Cycle%20routes%20and%20maps\/Tiverton%20and%20Culm%20Valley.pdf?&amp;originalPath=aHR0cHM6Ly9kZXZvbmNjLnNoYXJlcG9pbnQuY29tLzpiOi9zL1B1YmxpY0RvY3MvVHJhbnNwb3J0L0VZZklSVllHMmtWSW5zZ0V2ekp0T2lFQmpnZGFzWk13eGFfdHlHc1ZONlM3aXc_cnRpbWU9eWpkM05zM2kxMGc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Cycle Network Route 3<\/a> follows much of the Canal.<\/p>\n<p>The towpath is flat, which makes it an accessible path for all, however cyclists must dismount and walk under bridges when indicated by signs and give way to pedestrians and the horses drawing the passenger barge at all times.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\" data-accordion-item>\r\n<a href=\"#mac3\" id=\"head3\" role=\"tab\" class=\"accordion-title\" aria-controls=\"mac3\">By bus <\/a><div id=\"mac3\" aria-labelledby=\"head3\" class=\"accordion-content\" data-tab-content><div class=\"targetclass\" >\n<h3>How to find us by bus<\/h3>\n<p>There are regular bus services to Tiverton from Exeter, Barnstaple, Crediton and Taunton.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/grandwesterncanal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2020\/04\/Tiverton-Museum.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2426\" title=\"Tiverton Museum\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/grandwesterncanal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2020\/04\/Tiverton-Museum.jpg\" alt=\"Tiverton Museum\" width=\"201\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a>Once at Tiverton Bus Station, the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/yGr693Ae33Xe2XTZ9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canal Basin<\/a> is a half mile walk up Canal Hill (the Tourist Information Centre &#8211; in the Museum close to the bus station &#8211; can give directions if necessary).<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively you can catch the <a href=\"http:\/\/nationaljourneyplanner.travelinesw.com\/swe-ttb\/XSLT_TTB_REQUEST?deleteAssignedStops_ttb=1&amp;command=direct&amp;itdLPxx_displayHeader=false&amp;type_ttb=any&amp;language=en&amp;sessionID=0&amp;requestID=0&amp;itdLPxx_template=tableResults&amp;coordOutputFormat=WGS84%5Bdd.ddddd%5D&amp;outputFormat=0&amp;std3_commonMacro=ttb&amp;std3_contractorMacro=&amp;line=swe%3A33352%3A%20%3AH%3Ay10%3A1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tidcombe Circular bus service<\/a> which stops just past the Canal Basin, at the top of Withy Close\/Spurway Road, and at another access point near Tidcombe Bridge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2425\" title=\"Tidcombe Circular Bus\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/grandwesterncanal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2020\/04\/Tidcombe-circular-bus.jpg\" alt=\"Tidcombe Circular Bus\" width=\"200\" height=\"142\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are other regular bus services from Tiverton to Exeter (1) (1A) and from Tiverton to Taunton (22).
