\"Play<\/a><\/p>\n

A \u00a350,000 canal-themed play park, for children aged between three and nine, was installed in the Grand Western Canal Basin in 2018.<\/p>\n

Devon County Council, which manages the canal, consulted local children over the design of the play park at the Mid Devon Show and through local schools. The final design was a combination of the children\u2019s views and a theme inspired by the canal\u2019s setting and natural environment.<\/p>\n

The themed play equipment includes slides, swings and a roundabout. Its centrepiece is a special \u2018boat\u2019 for children to climb and explore which can be customised with different designs.<\/p>\n

The play park was unveiled by Councillor Ray Radford, who was Devon County Council\u2019s chairman, the councillor for Willand and Uffculme, Mid Devon District Councillor for Halberton and the chairman of the Canal\u2019s Joint Advisory Committee. The park was delivered by Proludic, and paid for following contributions from Devon County Councils locality budget, Tiverton Town Council, Tesco and The Friends of the Grand Western Canal.<\/p>\n

The park is just a short walk from the Canal Visitor Centre, Tiverton Canal Co.’s floating caf\u00e9-bar (The Duck\u2019s Ditty), gift shop and the nearby Canal Tea Rooms and Garden.<\/p>\n

For a great day out why not enjoy a scenic 6 mile cycle ride between the Canal Basin Play Park and another new children\u2019s play area that has also been installed near the Canal in the village of Sampford Peverell.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Play Park in Sampford Peverell was completely re-built in 2017, funded by the local community. It provides a wonderful community space, with some fantastic wooden play equipment including balance beams, climbing frame, slides, swings, rope bridge, zip wire and a play house.<\/p>\n\n
