The fund offers capital grants for essential repairs and related works at listed places of worship, including churches, chapels, synagogues, temples and mosques. It replaces the former VAT reclaim scheme for Listed Places of Worship. The programme is being delivered by Historic England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a323 million will be available each year for the next four years with three streams of funding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Small grants: \u00a310,000 to \u00a350,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medium grants: \u00a350,001 to \u00a3350,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Large grants: \u00a3350,001 to \u00a31 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The objectives of the fund are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>repair and safeguard historic places of worship in places most in need by undertaking the repairs that keep them in use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>help places of worship stay active as community spaces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>strengthen long-term resilience of the building and reduce future repair costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>target support in the most deprived areas of England where need is highest<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding can be used for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>urgent fabric repairs (roofs, masonry, timber, drainage) \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>essential improvements (electrical upgrades, heating, toilets, step\u2011free access) \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>professional fees and surveys related to eligible capital works \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>limited additional works that support future long-term sustainability (such as loft hatches, improved rainwater goods) \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>proportionate interventions that support sustainable community use \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your project must involve a building listed at Grade I, Grade II* or Grade II, that is an active place of worship (used for worship a minimum of six times a year).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be two windows each year in which Expressions of Interest can be submitted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Listed places of worship in England can now apply to the new \u00a392m Places of Worship Renewal Fund.
