The funding can be used for wide a range of heritage initiatives including: historic buildings and monuments; museums, libraries and archives; cultural traditions; industrial heritage; nature, gardens and historic landscapes; community archaeology; and commemorations and celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects must align with the NLHF 10-year strategy &#8211; Heritage 2033 \u2013 which is based on four core principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>saving heritage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>protecting the environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inclusion, access and participation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organisational sustainability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two funding streams for projects in England:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritagefund.org.uk\/funding\/national-lottery-heritage-grants-10k-250k-0\" rel=\"noopener\">National Lottery Heritage Grants \u00a310,000 to \u00a3250,000<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritagefund.org.uk\/funding\/national-lottery-heritage-grants-250k-10m\" rel=\"noopener\">National Lottery Heritage Grants \u00a3250,000 to \u00a310m<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications can be made by not-for-profit organisations and partnerships led by not-for-profit organisations. Private owners of heritage assets can also apply for grants up to \u00a3250,000 if they can demonstrate that the public benefit outweighs any private gain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NLHF also takes a proactive approach to tackling long-standing heritage issues through its Strategic Initiatives which support projects and address heritage gaps where proposals are not coming through in the open programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strategic initiatives are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritagefund.org.uk\/funding\/strategic-initiatives\/landscape-connections\" rel=\"noopener\">Landscape Connections<\/a><br>For long-term landscape-scale nature recovery in National Parks and National Landscapes, providing better connections for people and nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritagefund.org.uk\/funding\/strategic-initiatives\/heritage-need-places-worship\" rel=\"noopener\">Places of Worship<\/a><br>For strategic regional or national projects that develop capacity to repair, manage and sustain historic religious buildings (ie. not for individual churches)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritagefund.org.uk\/funding\/strategic-initiatives\/heritage-places\" rel=\"noopener\">Heritage Places<\/a> (open to heritage projects in Torbay)<br>Funding for transformative heritage projects in specific places. 15 places have been announced so far, including Torbay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritagefund.org.uk\/funding\/strategic-initiatives\/nature-towns-and-cities\" rel=\"noopener\">Nature Towns &amp; Cities<\/a> (closed)<br>For urban nature recovery initiatives.
