The trust is open to funding a range of different organisations and approaches, but generally funds work that is about addressing the root causes of problems rather than delivering services or alleviating immediate needs.<\/p>\n<p>The funding priorities include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peace and Security<br \/>\n<\/strong>Funding for charitable work in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Challenging militarism<\/li>\n<li>Scrutiny of counter-terrorism measures<\/li>\n<li>Alternative approaches to defence and security<\/li>\n<li>Responding to the harms of systemic racism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Power and Accountability<br \/>\n<\/strong>For activities that help to share power more equally by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthening corporate accountability<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening democratic accountability<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging responsible media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rights and Justice <\/strong>(previous recipients only)<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>For long-term work that works towards reforming policy and legislation relating to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Protection and promotion of human rights and their enforcement in the UK<\/li>\n<li>Promoting rights and justice for minorities who face the most severe forms of racism<\/li>\n<li>Promotion of rights and justice for refugees and other migrants by identifying and tackling structures and systems that may deny them their rights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sustainable Future<br \/>\n<\/strong>Developing and promoting sustainable, low-carbon alternatives by exploring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Better economics<\/li>\n<li>Beyond consumerism (encouraging more sustainable ways of living)<\/li>\n<li>New voices (giving marginalised or under-represented groups a voice on economic and environmental issues)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Charities and other not-for-profit organisations working at national level can apply. Individuals can also apply but the project must be for public benefit.
